One door closes another will open.

“Closing circles, shutting doors, finishing chapters, it doesn’t matter what we call it; what matters is to leave in the past those moments in life that are over.” 

The past few months have been a crazy time in my life. I spent the last 18 years of my life in a job that I was not happy at, I never felt joy when I thought about going to work. I felt that you should at least do something that you love and enjoy. That chapter has closed and at first I was lost, mad and disappointed that I gave so much of myself, time and energy to a place that only saw me as a number and not actually cared about me. I was lost and then I decided that I shouldn’t put any more of my energy into that job and my past. I decided to move forward through the open door. I decided to go back to school and finish my degree. I took six classes over the summer, I wanted to prove to myself that I could do anything that I set my mind to and show my two little girls that you can achieve whatever you set your mind and heart on. Now that the summer semester is over I came out with a 4.0 all A’s I am heading in the right direction and I am so damn proud of myself. I feel a huge sense of accomplishment. I have a few more semesters to go but I am on the right path. I also got another job that will work with me and school. I am happier than I have ever been, I have been able to spend more time with my kiddos and family. “When one door closes, another opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.” — Alexander Graham Bell. I am so glad I decided to pick myself up, rise from the ashes and not look back but forward and onto this new journey in life. If life has taught me anything it’s that an end to one path or goal often brings a new chance. I feel it is entirely true that age and time do not have an expiration date, and you can start over, learn new skills, or change your path at ant point in your life. Letting go of the idea that you missed your chance opens up fresh energy. It’s never too late to pursue your dreams. Age is nothing more than a number. Most of the time, we think that age has a significant role to play when it comes to success. But you have to understand the fact that it is never too let to achieve your goals.

It is never too late to start to put yourself at the top of your list, prioritize, and do what we’ve always wanted to do. No matter if we’re in our thirties, forties or beyond, we can still have a chance.

Becoming successful is not confined to one certain age or even one career. In fact, the most flourishing people are the ones who have reinvented themselves, attempted, left and decided again. I am so grateful and happy I’ve decided to invest in myself.
